About Belgorod
Belgorod is an ancient Russian city which was grounded on chalky hills overlooking the Seversky Donets River at the end of XVI century upon the order of the Tsar Fyedor Ioannovich.
Today Belgorod is a modern city which combines the elements of traditional and modern lifestyle, culture and science, classics and novelty. It is the Green Capital of the Russian Federation, situated in the heart of Central Russia, 695 km to the South of Moscow.
Being an administrative center of Belgorod region (since 1954), it has an extensive transit network with Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. Belgorod is located in the time zone that is according to the international standard denoted as Moscow Time Zone (MSK).
Belgorod is a city with a developed infrastructure. It is a scientific and cultural center that has 6 higher education establishments, Academic Drama Theatre named after M.S. Shchepkin and State Philharmonic. More than once Belgorod has been given a title “The best kept city of Russia” with the population ranging from 100 to 500 thousand people.
